I am a Duff wannabe!!

Do you watch "Ace of Cakes"? Duff is the pastry chef and his shop "Charm City Cakes" rocks...I want to get hired there. Until then, my measly little kitchen will have to do! I made this cake for Sherry's baby shower. The monkey and the corners of the board are the characters in her crib set. Cute, yes?

How did this happen anyway?!?

Those of you who know me well, know that I am a "jeans and t-shirt"-type gal. I cannot for the life of me figure out what happened to my daughter...!?!?! How did I manage to get a tutu-fairy-twinkletoes-ballerina? As you can see, the tendancy goes waaay back!!

Regular high heels are bad enough...plastic high heels for toddlers? A broken ankle in the making....
This dress requires some hips!!

Daddy got her this purple princess dress in Edmonton-and boy is it a fave!! I have already had to sew it twice. You would think the costume makers out there, realizing that the costume will be pulled on and off seven or eight times a day, would make the things a bit more resilient!

It appears that the fairy-bell-tutu-princess disease is catching!! Here she is, infecting her friends! A harmless day of crafts and building blocks deteriorated into a "princess dance festival"!

Tinkerbell Cake

A friend of mine heard that I have a knack for cakes, and she asked me (on Thursday) if I would make a Tinkerbell Cake for her daughter's party today! I said sure, why not? I have nothing else to do!! :) Anyway, here are some photos.

I love the first shot-Tink in pieces!! Looks slightly bizarre!It turned out pretty good.

The more often I work with fondant, the more I learn. She kind of sank a bit....But, the 3 and 4 year olds liked it-that is what counts!

My lapse in 'Blogging"

My good friend, Kara, has been chastising me for my 'blogging'. I told her that I am fairly certain that she is the only one who reads it!! It is just as easy for me to email her directly! But, in all fairness, I should continue to update-just in case!
The kids are fine. Ezra has had a monster cold for over 4 weeks-ugh. I am not fully convinced that it was 'just a cold' - I had him into the clinic and into emerg...I was told, by our astounding medical staff (when we actually had some in town) that it was 'just a cold', 'he doesn't look sick', and MY FAVE...'oh, he is just teething' AAAAHHHH!!! I tell ya! Frustrating! I feel horrible for the poor, little guy-he has been miserable. I don't want to say the words out loud, but I think it might be letting up.....cross my fingers.
I have been conned into adding to my already overloaded life...The Play School that Peekaboo attends is non-profit, and it gets most of it's money from fundraisers thoughout the year. The last one is an Auction held in May. Each family is responsible for providing an appetizer, a dessert, 2 things to be auctioned off and they must help the night of..... crazy, yes? If you don't fulfill your "commitment" they cash a $100 cheque that you were to give at the beginning of the year. After considering what was expected, I had begun to think just letting them cash the cheque would be cheaper, and easier.....Then, I got the phone call.
"Hi"
"Hi, is this Tigger?"
"Ummm, who is this?"
"I am Tiffany. I am in charge of the Play school auction"
"Ummmm, O...K...?"
"I was told you were crafty"
OK, let's stop right there....crafty? Like a fox? Nope, not what she meant.... Apparently every year they auction off quilts with the kids handprints on them. These things go for major money, I am not kidding. Last year one sold for over $1000!
You can see where this is going, can't you? Somehow, by the end of this phone call, I am making 3 quilts-yep, 3! One for each class, doncha know?! How do I get myself into these situations? Cuz, making 3 quilts is easier and cheaper than just letting them cash the damned cheque!?!?!

Latest creations

I have moved on from the fleece dresses and such (How many dresses can one child have!?!) I finally finished Ez's new moccasins! Yay! The poor guy outgrew his 'newborn' slippers months ago and I started a new, bigger pair. Well, with Christmas and many other projects underway, they kind of got put on the back burner for a couple of months. I finished them this week, and they are great! With Peekaboo's I used canvas for the "Canvas-top" portion, but I always thought that they looked so WHITE!!! Although, they didn't look white for long! I wanted to do something different with Ez's, so I dug through my fabric bag looking for inspiration. Yay-denim!! I cut the legs off of a pair of jeans that are too small for my guy, sewed them on as the uppers-works great! The best part is, the jeans had elastic around the ankles-so now he has elastic around the 'uppers'-so cool!

Christmas was lovely, quiet but nice. Peekaboo got her much anticipated Music box, and I am sick to death of the song "Baby Mine"!

Ez loved the wrapping paper, the ribbons the boxes...the presents...? Whatever!!

Ho Ho Ho!

Peekaboo has definately passed the "terrified of Santa" phase! When he came to the Play School Christmas Party at the bowling alley, she was practically vibrating she was sooooo excited!!

She has asked Santa for a VERY specific gift this year. She saw music boxes with twirling ballerinas in the Sears Wishbook. She would like one, that has a heart on it, a ballerina that twirls around inside and...wait for it....plays the song "Baby Mine" from Dumbo! Do you believe it!?! The girls definately knows what she wants!!

She has recently made an addition to the list, dominoes?!?! I don't know-she is crazy!

She has also asked Santa to bring Ezra something, she doesn't know what. When I asked her she said "Santa can pick it." Seems like sound logic to me.

Earlier this week we were taking the dog for a walk after dinner. It was snowing nice, big, fluffy flakes (strange for here) Peekaboo started twirling down the centre of the road (traffic-free!) with her arms over her head, singing "Have a holly, jolly Christmas!" at the top of her lungs! It was frickin' halarious!!! There was a woman out walking the opposite direction, who commented on her enthusiasm for the snow, what an understatement!

Ezra has also met Santa, and was relatively cool about it...

...maybe it is because he looks remarkably similar to Poppa...?!
